Craig Tarres – Managing Director

Craig has over 20 years of finance and business experience.  Craig spent 10 years in Sydney, Australia working for Dun & Bradstreets Commercial Finance division, then moving on to Citibank where he managed territories providing Consumer and Commercial Finance.  Craig then moved to Westpac in branch management and Business Banking roles.

Originally from Christchurch, Craig returned home to go into business for himself.  He built up and sold a successful Software / web business between 1999 and 2003.  The business was sold to Acclipse, now part of CCH. After selling the software company he then moved into general investing and some minor ownerships of small businesses in NZ.

Craig has been involved in debt restructuring and loan origination for small to medium companies for a number of years now and has formalised this into First Business Finance.


Jonathan Douglas – Operations Manager

Jonathan has been involved in the finance and operations management for over 20 years.  First starting out at the National Bank of NZ Ltd for 12 years in consumer and business finance. Then moving to the UK for 4 years to work for CitiBank NA London.

Working with the Foreign Exchange trading desk as position keeper for many and varied currencies. Jonathan & his family then moved back to his home-town of Christchurch over 10 years ago and has been working in a Lending operations role for a finance company and  Operations Manager role at a large Debt collection company “Receivables Management NZ Limited”.

His experience in dealing with debt refinancing, customer and lender relationships is invaluable to First Business Finance.
